My iPod over the past few days has been giving me a "double shot" playlist while on random--it likes to play two songs from the same artist (or very similar artists) back to back. It's made for an interesting time. I have often wondered about my iPod, as it has also gone through phases where, if I have to start the shuffle over again, it will always always always play a certain song on the first day of the new shuffle. My goal is to go through my entire playlist once on shuffle. Even with skipping, this will take about a month to do. Unfortunately, if I forget to charge it overnight more than one night in a row, it will shut down and lose its place so I have to start over.
Yesterday was the Sandra Day O'Connor Project's annual conference at GULC. I got to shake her hand and speak with Justice O'Connor last year, and the picture that all of the student volunteers took with her and Justice Breyer made it to the front of the Georgetown Law Magazine.
This year, I was again assigned to just be a greeter and give directions, and I was on the last shift. As it turns out, this was the time to be working because not only did I get to hear Justice O'Connor give her closing remarks, but she wound up only taking a picture with the people working the last volunteer shift--4 of us! So now I have a really intimate picture with her, as well.
Of course, I was feeling icky for most of the day yesterday. I had been having sinus issues, but then my throat started to hurt. I really wanted to be a part of the conference, though, so I sucked on Ricola lozenges like they were being discontinued, kept washing my hands, and made it through the day.
But by the time evening rolled around I was feeling worse, so I decided that today I would stay in bed, reading, watching movies, and drinking lots of liquid. I did leave the house for a bit to get some Kleenex and ginger ale, but other than that, I haven't really moved (I'm staying in my room to prevent myself from infecting the couch and getting my housemates sick). I'm already feeling better (there was no sore throat today, just general blech-ness), so I'll be good to go for the weekend and next week.
